MACPool deputy manager Kirsty Young swapped waterproofs for sunscreen after heading to Doha, Qatar as part of a swim teacher exchange programme.

Arranged and sponsored by Tidal Waves Swim School, Kirsty shared her experiences as a swim teacher in Scotland with swimmers in Qatar, and brought back ideas to develop the learn to swim programme at MACPool.

Kirsty was the guest of Arlene Green, head coach at Tidal Waves and also coach of Dalriada Dolphins. Arlene trained the only Qatari swimming competitor in the 2012 Olympic Games.

It is hoped the exchange programme will be repeated later in the year, with MACPool staff members sharing their lifeguard skills with the Tidal Waves team.
